$75,000 Stakes Highlight Prairie Meadows Card Saturday

Friday night at Prairie Meadows featured a pair of Iowa bred 3-year old stakes. Saturday night features a pair of $75,000 stakes for open 3-year olds.

First up in the 7th race are the fillies in the one mile Panthers Stakes where graded stakes winner Sarah Sis will lead the way to the post as the 7/2 morning line favorite.

Winner of the Grade 3 Honeybee at Oaklawn, Sarah Sis was pulled up during the running of the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks. Looking none the worse for wear, Sarah Sis fired a pair of sharp workouts at Arlington prepping for the Panthers. She draws the rail and reunites with Junior Felix. Though not a lot of speed in the race to run at, if necessary she has the ability to seize the lead and take control as well.

The undefeated I’m Working On It, three for three on her career, is looking to take her second straight stake at Prairie Meadows after capturing the Goldfinch as the odds on favorite. Her stalking style would make her dangerous behind any early speed but with the lack of pace and the flexibility of the favorite, it may be a tall order to run off four in a row.

In the eighth, the colts and geldings will take the track in the Prairie Mile.

Donnie Von Hemel sends Hillbilly Royalty postward after a go in the Grade 3 Pat Day Mile on the Kentucky Derby undercard. The colt has speed and his Beyer figures, Pat Day Mile excepted, are the best in the field. If Luis Quinonez chooses to get to the front, he may be able to control the race.

Should Hillbilly Royalty receive pressure on the front end, several stalkers will be poised to try to take advantage.

A M Milky Way, winner of the Golden Circle Stakes last out, will try to stretch out to a mile in the Prairie, as Dadtaughtmewell.

Dadtaughtmewell has reeled off three wins in a row going back to his season ender last year where he broke his maiden. This year he has scored in a $25,000 starter allowance at Tampa Bay Downs as well as a $75,000 Hawthorn optional claimer. Both sprints were won with ease and his maiden breaker was a 20 length romp at a mile and 70 yards, so the stretch to a mile in this one should not be too difficult. His stalking style will set him up ideally for a late run.

Another horse on a streak is Allied Air Raid, winner of his last two at Oaklawn. He’s been off since April 8th but has been working steadily for trainer Brad Cox. Jesus Castanon comes over from Churchill to stay aboard.

Post time for the Panthers is 9:11 central time followed directly by the Prairie Mile.
