SHAKOPEE, MN – Twenty-one (Hip No. 8 is OUT) Minnesota bred yearlings are scheduled to head into the sales ring for the 2024 Minnesota Thoroughbred Sale on Sunday, September 8 at 4 PM at the Canterbury Park Event Center. The yearlings will be followed by a paddock sale consisting of horses currently on the backside of Canterbury Park.
Canterbury Park has taken over the sale from the now defunct Minnesota Thoroughbred Association (MTA). Kay King, longtime Executive Director of MTA, has signed on to help coordinate the sale in conjunction with Dailey Realty and Auction (Jay & Willa Dailey).
Consignors with the most horses in the sale are Heaven on Earth Farm with six yearlings. Richard Bremer and Cheryl Sprick have three entered with several consignors, including Von Seggern Thoroughbreds, with two. Bremer and Sprick sold last year’s sales topper ($49,000) while the Von Seggerns have sold several sales toppers over the years including the only $100,000 yearling ever sold in Minnesota in the 2018 sale.
Sires represented include Run Happy, Maximus Mischief, Free Drop Billy and Honor Code.
There is still time to enter your horse for the paddock sale following the yearling sale. Entries will be taken up until Friday for that portion of the sale.

The yearlings can be previewed on September 7 from 5 – 8 PM and sale day from 11AM – 5 PM.
