SHAKOPEE, MN – Canterbury Park recently launched the Campaign Fund of Canterbury Park. A donation form was sent out to all horsepeople to start seeding the fund with a cover letter from Canterbury Park President and CEO, Randy Sampson, who is also the chairperson of the fund.
Acknowledging that the last couple of years have been difficult for racing interests in the state and, in particular, at Canterbury Park since the expiration of the joint marketing agreement with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, Sampson is looking to rally the horsepeople to create a stronger voice at the Capitol.
“This month we are launching the Campaign Fund of Canterbury Park (CFCP),” wrote Sampson, “an effort to bring together the necessary resources to engage political leaders in new ways.
“We may not be able to match the millions that other gaming interests have available to them,” Sampson continued, “but we do have the ability to expand our impact.”
The Fund will have an independent board of directors that will be responsible for the financial distributions. In addition to Sampson, the board consists of:
Vice Chair Carin Offerman, member, Canterbury Park Board of Directors
Randy Dehmer, CFO and VP of Finance, Canterbury Park
Justin Revak, President, Minnesota HBPA
John Mentz, business leader, owner and breeder.
Corporate contributions will not be accepted by the Fund but all involved in the racing industry are encouraged to contribute as individuals.
Contributions to the Fund can be sent to:
