SHAKOPEE, MN – Nominations closed on June 3rd for a pair of $75,000 stakes Saturday at Canterbury Park: the Northbound Pride Oaks at a mile on the turf for 3-year old fillies and the Dark Star Cup at 6 1/2 furlongs over the main track.
The Northbound Pride closed with 43 nominations led by 5 from trainer Ben Colebrook, 4 from Anthony Grantz and a trio each from Mac Robertson and Joe Sharp.
Colebrook’s quintet is led by American Doll who would be moving down from graded stakes territory after outings in the Grade III Beaumont and the Grade III Bourbonette Oaks.
Also nominated out of the Bourbonette are Inconclusive (trainer Richie Scherer) and multiple stakes winner Marquee Miss (Ingrid Mason).
Trainer Robertino Diodoro leads the entries in the Dark Star Cup with a quartet of Mercedes Stables runners led by Graded Stakes winner Subtle Indian and undefeated multiple stakes winner Stormation.
Locals nominated include fillies Jeana Baby and Blazing Angel for the Oaks and Bourbon County, Hold for More and Speed Is Life in the Dark Star.
