SHAKOPEE, MN – Jockey Orlando Mojica, a recent addition to the Canterbury Park riding colony, notched his 2000th career victory today aboard Sam Scored a Goal in the 10th race at the Shakopee, MN oval.
“It really means a lot to me,” said Mojica after the ride. “Business has been good since I moved up here and the people have been very nice. It’s a very nice place to ride.”
The Puerto Rican native talked a bit about the influence his father, still actively riding back home, at age 68.
“I really hope he’s proud of me,” he said. “He’s always done the right thing for me and our family. He’s worked really hard.”
Asked how many wins he’d like to have when he’s 68?
“I hope I’ll be retired by then!”
