The Iowa Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association’s all age sale sold 51 horses for gross proceeds of $801,700. Both the median, $10,000, and the average, $15,719, were huge increases over 2021s of $8200 and $11,176, respectively.
The sales topper was hip number 20, a chestnut Colt by Anchor Down out of the Bwana Charlie mare, Damaris. The colt sold for $60,000 to Albaugh Family Stables and Allen Poindexter and was consigned by Iowa State University.
Iowa State was the leading consignor with 26 horses sold and gross proceeds of $521,200. Lyn Chleborad, Prairie Gold Diggers and Allen Poindexter were the leading buyers, buying 5 horses for $138,000.
