SHAKOPEE, MN – One of the more popular events of the last few seasons returns to Canterbury Park when fifteen teams representing various tribes from Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Washington and Idaho, take the track to compete for prize money this weekend.
Beginning tonight, teams will race in preliminaries to qualify for the finals on Saturday evening. Tonight and tomorrow’s Indian relays will take place at approximately at 7:45 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. with a youth race at 9 p.m.
The Indian Horse Racing championships will take place on Saturday. There will be a special Saturday post time of 5:15 p.m. with the relay races scattered throughout the card:
Consolation race at 7:55 p.m.
Female rider race at 8:45 p.m.
Indian Horse Relay Championship race at 9:30 p.m.
Saturday will also feature a trio of $50,000 turf stakes with the Minnesota HBPA Distaff, the Brooks Fields and the Mystic Lake Turf Sprint as the 3, 4 and 5th races, respectively.
