The second weekend of the season at Prairie Meadows brings with it the first stakes race of the season, the $75,000 Goldfinch Stakes for three-year old fillies going six furlongs tonight.
Undefeated I’m Working On It is the 5/2 morning line favorite. In her two starts she could not have performed more admirably for trainer Lynn Chleborad sitting off the pace early and going when jockey Alex Birzer asked her. She won both races professionally at Oaklawn including a nice $68,500 allowance score. She hasn’t really been challenged and asked for top effort and she looms boldly over this group.
Sibling War has spent her career down on the Bayou, befitting a Louisiana bred. She sports 3 wins from 7 starts including a stakes win in the $100,000 Azelea Stakes. She should be prominent early and is cutting back to six furlongs after routing so far this season.
Sibling War won’t be alone on the lead, however, Easter Indy, Royal Song Dancer and Perfect Fit all look to also be on or near the lead and that could pave the way for I’m Working On It.
The Goldfinch is the 8th race on the card with and estimated post time of 9:37 Central Time.
