Second MRC “Town Hall” On Tap for Running Aces

The Minnesota Racing Commission will hold its next “Town Hall” style meeting on Thursday, March 2nd at Running Aces Harness Park at 10:00AM.  The meeting is the second in a continuing series of meetings planned by the MRC to get feedback and input on horse racing in Minnesota from stakeholders and fans.

The first meeting, held at Canterbury Park in January, drew members of the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry as well as board members of the Minnesota Thoroughbred Association, the Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and Canterbury Park executives.

Topics covered in that meeting included updates on the Advanced Deposit Wagering licensing process, new tax regulations regarding pari-mutuel wagering and medication standards.  The commission staff and members also took questions from attendees on racing, breeders’ fund and other topics of interest.

On the agenda for the March 2 meeting are the latest legislative developments from this session, discussion of the recently released economic impact study of the racing industry in Minnesota, the racehorse aftercare initiative, backside support programs as well as any other topics of interest that may come up among the attendees.

The meeting will be hosted by MRC staff as well as Commissioner Dan Erhart in the atrium area at Running Aces and is scheduled for ninety minutes.
