SHAKOPEE, MN – The Minnesota Racing Commission has granted Canterbury Park a request to change the closing date of racing from Saturday, September 16 to Friday, September 15. Racing will be added on Thursday, September 14 in order to make up for the Saturday date.
Concert promoter Live Nation along with Twin Cities radio station 93X announced jointly today that Prophets of Rage, which combines the firepower of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill, will be performing in the infield of the Shakopee, MN oval as part of the 93X 20th Anniversary Show.
Canterbury will be moving the post times of the final two days of racing to 5 PM in order to accommodate additional turf races as well as up to 12 races per card.
The change does necessitate the moving of a trio of $50,000 stakes races. The 1 mile and 1/16 John Bullit, originally scheduled for the 15th will be moved to Thursday the 14th while the pair of six furlong sprints, the Shakopee Juvenile and Tom Metzen HBPA Sprint will now be contested on Friday night, the 15th.
